Alpha Direct is a Polartec fleece fabric that has become very popular on trail. The fabric has a crazy high warmth to weight ratio, and because of that, pieces in this fabric can be used as both a midlayer or baselayer, depending on your own temperature preferences. Alpha fabric’s design allows it to be so warm while at the cost of being extremely wind susceptible. This can also be a positive as the layer drops heat when you need to.

The Gonzo Gear Alpha Fleece is meant to fit a little boxier and larger to address some common issues with alpha fleece. Simply put, it stretches oddly and shrinks at times. The arms are meant to be longer and wider with deeper armpits to address this issue.
